Preparing for a Headshot

Image
Proudly active Protege in Peter Hurley's HeadShot Crew Are you thinking of getting headshots? We certainly hope so! Here is some useful information to make sure you’re ready for your time in the spotlight!:) Headshots are your own personal branding, they will represent you at your best- the you that you want agents & your next employer to see! Headshots are all about your face! Your eyes are the first thing you want an agent and/ or casting director to notice, then your smile & other features. Thus, during your headshot session the focus is all on your face, our goal will be to depict you in various “characters” depending upon what role or roles you will be auditioning.  CLOTHING  Your attire needs to be clean & wrinkle free! Bring them on hangers to avoid wrinkles (yes t-shirts on hangers too:) We recommend you bring at least 3-4 solid colored tops with various necklines & tops of various styles for the session & place them on hangers to avoid ...

Bringing out your "inner model"

Image
Today we had the honor of photographing another outstanding dancer.  We love headshot sessions because each person has different qualities and talents. We find it so exciting to capture their unique characteristics and personalities! Some exude great confidence, while others are a little timid and unsure of themselves. However, we can honestly say, that we take great pride in bringing out their "inner model". Those who come in unsure and unconfident, leave with a greater understanding of their own body language and facial expressions- therefore, confidence!  Clients who come to us with confidence also leave with a greater understanding of how their personality translates to photos. When the client can finish their session with too many photos to choose from- we feel great!  Confidence is key to having a great audition submission. You want to stand out from the rest and make the casting director want to find you during the audition process! You also want to go...

GREAT WEEKEND WORKING WITH AMAZING LOCAL TALENT!

Image
It's a great Monday following a busy and productive weekend! We are looking forward to sharing the final product on two concept videos we filmed.  The bonus to being a photographer & videographer is working with such exceptional talent! Capturing the essence of the dancers is easy when they work as hard as everyone did!  Each concept video was unique in it's own way, which makes for a full day of collaborations, ideas, angles & thinking outside the box.  Each director/artists has a vision they need brought to life.  Notice I didn't say "want brought to life".  I say need, because if you're an artist in any sense, you completely understand that what's in your head "needs" to come to fruition or it's highly frustrating! Working together we found transitions that worked, movements that come to life on film & angles to capture what the director had in mind.  Again, it was a weekend of productivity and greatness for all involved.  ...

Looking for agents??

Image
Good afternoon! I hope you're all having a wonderful Tuesday- we are!  I've been working for several years taking headshots for clients.  Some are seeking to be actors or dancers while others are in pursuit of modeling. Not matter what type of industry you are trying to get into, your headshot is *the* way to open doors!  When you book a headshot session with us, we will provide you with detailed information about what you can expect & what you'll need to wear (in the near future, we will also be posting some info on our blog for you:)  Today's post however is about the other most frequently asked question we receive---"do you know of any agents I could submit to?":)  So here is a list of some local agents recommended by SAG (Screen Actors Guild). These are professional agents who don't get paid unless you do! Studio One hits Las Vegas for Hip Hop International 2014

Image
What a great week in Las Vegas!!!  Studio One, led by Julie Johnson,  placed 3rd in the HHI USA competition which earned them a place to compete against 48 other countries in International competition.  Staying true to their beliefs and unique style, they WOWED the audience and received a standing ovation in the Preliminary round!!  Scores showed them at 7.27 with a -1.0 deduction for implementing "dangerous" tricks. A raw score of 8.27 would have brought them into 7th place and into the World Semi-Finals.  The team knew what it meant to perform their original routine and showed the world what they were made of.  Congratulations Studio One!!!  We are all proud of you!! Videos and Photos below.... Here's the link for all the photos: (still adding days :)  ) Click image to access photos! HHI 2014 World Competition Routine HHI 2014 USA Competition Routine
